Exciting Changes at Flagstaff Community Exploration
At Flagstaff Community Exploration (FCE), we believe in the power of community, creativity, and shared experiences. Over the past year, we've been honored to work with so many talented artists, passionate students, and families who’ve made FCE a truly unique place for learning and connection.
However, as we continue to grow, we've realized that in order to make an even greater impact on our community, we need to pivot our approach. With this in mind, we’re excited to announce that FCE is transitioning to a non-profit model starting in 2025!
What Does This Mean for You?
Affordable, Accessible Art Classes: One of the biggest changes we’re making is to reduce the cost of our classes. By shifting to a non-profit structure, we’ll be able to offer more affordable options for families and individuals in our community. This means that the barrier to accessing high-quality, meaningful art education will be lower, allowing even more people to engage with the creative process.
A New Class Schedule Starting in Fall: While we’ve had to cancel our spring classes due to low enrollment and timing issues, we’re already planning for a full return in the fall. Our goal is to launch an exciting array of classes that cater to different age groups and skill levels, all designed to foster creativity, exploration, and community connection.
Summer Camp with Visiting Artists: Although we’re taking a break from regular classes this spring, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting a summer camp featuring visiting artists! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from artists in various fields while experiencing the fun and creativity that FCE is known for. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to summer!
Why the Change?
Our decision to transition to a non-profit model is rooted in a desire to make art education more accessible and sustainable in Flagstaff. By focusing on community-driven, low-cost classes, we can support a greater number of people, particularly those who might not have had the opportunity to take art classes otherwise.
Additionally, this new structure allows us to continue building on the foundation we’ve already laid with the “Creative Connections: Community and Culture” sessions. As part of this transition, we plan to deepen our engagement with the Flagstaff community, creating even more ways for people to explore their creative potential while learning about the culture, history, and diversity of our city.
Thank You for Your Support
As we move through this transition, we want to express our deep gratitude to all of you who have supported FCE over the years. Whether you’ve taken classes, volunteered, shared your artwork, or simply followed our journey, you’ve helped make FCE what it is today.
We hope that you’ll continue to join us as we embark on this exciting new chapter. Please stay connected by following us on social media, where we’ll be sharing updates on our summer camp, fall classes, and everything else that’s coming up.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds and are excited to share it with you.
